TOBIAS HUTZLER X RIVIAN BOREALIS

The team at Rivian often looks to its community for inspiration. After seeing images shared by Rivian owners of vehicles photographed beneath a purple‑washed sky during a 2024 solar event, an idea took shape. Rivian Borealis was born. There was no more fitting collaborator to photograph and direct the Borealis campaign than Tobias Hutzler. Known for using custom-built lighting systems and volume stages, Tobias engineers precise shooting environments through technology. 
Working closely with the Rivian team, Tobias recreated the feeling of the northern lights within a large-scale studio,
capturing both the atmosphere of the phenomenon and the elegance and refined lines of the Rivian Borealis.
The resulting stills and accompanying motion bring the concept to life.
