KENDRICK BRINSON AND SUZANNE JACKSON FOR THE NEW YORKER

In 2017, author Kellie Jones published a groundbreaking book on Black artists in 1960s and 1970s Los Angeles, highlighting their use of art as activism. Among the featured artists is Suzanne Jackson, who, at eighty, had her first solo exhibition in New York in 2019. While her early work was a call for equality, she now focuses on the joy of creation and the transformative power of light. Recently, Kendrick Brinson visited Suzanne's Savannah studio for The New Yorker, capturing Suzanne in a way that reflects
the same luminous energy that defines her art. Click here to read the feature on NewYorker.com.
