DAVID WALTER BANKS CHOSEN BY AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHY

Two incredible images by David Walter Banks have been chosen by American Photography 40. The images were created for David's book Trembling Earth. Here is what David has to say about this captiviating work:

"These two images are from my forthcoming book, titled 'Trembling Earth'. This conceptual lens-based environmental-advocacy project aims to raise awareness for Georgia’s Okefenokee Swamp and its need for further protection from the extractive mining industry. There is intrigue to the Okefenokee Swamp, a mystical energy that renders these well-trodden waterways terra incognita to the first-time visitor. In this photographic essay, I’ve injected fantastical visual elements into my documentary photographs, using in-camera techniques rather than post-production effects, to portray both the environmental and
the metaphysical significance of the refuge."
