From their first performance in New York in 1958, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has been destined to change the perception of American dance. The groundbreaking company, orginally created as a space for a small group of Black dancers, has become one of the most respected dance companies in the world. When Sandro learned that they would be performing in Chicago, he contacted a friend (who works with Alvin Ailey) to inquire about shooting some of the company members at his studio. He was met with an enthusiastic yes! The images that Sandro has created in collaboration with Alvin Ailey's stunning performers are magnificent.
