KENNEDI CARTER PHOTOGRAPHS THE BEAUTIFUL JESSAMYN STANLEY FOR ZEITMAGAZIN

When Jessamyn Stanley took her first yoga class as a teenager, she didn't like it. Years later, she returned to yoga and the experience changed for her. Now, Jessamyn uses yoga to advocate for inclusivity and to break down the stereotypes that have typified the practice in America: being thin and white. Jessamyn is an inspiration for women of every color and every bodytype. As a yoga instructor, she champions the notion that yoga should be about how one feels, not how one looks. Kennedi Carter photographed this incredibly inspiring woman for ZEITMagazine. The striking portraits acccompany a feature that shares an intimate look at Jessamyn's childhood in the south, racism, overcoming obstacles and the power of yoga.
